Subject: An Update on Our Response to COVID-19
Elliott McCrea Hill (EMH) Law continues to be open and available to clients requiring legal services during COVID-19. Our lawyers are primarily working from their homes and restrictions on public access to our offices have been implemented in order to ensure the safety of our staff and clients and to comply with minimizing contact and physical distancing protocols.
Numerous restrictions have been placed on the hearing of matters before our Courts. If you have an upcoming Court hearing and are represented by an EMH Law lawyer, he or she will be in touch to discuss whether your matter will be proceeding as scheduled.
Various government relief and financial assistance programs are being made available to the business community at this time. Many commercial lenders are also offering payment deferrals or extended credit to clients. We recommend you check out links to government and banking offerings online to see whether you or your business qualifies for any of these programs. The Fredericton Chamber of Commerce has put together a summary of some of these programs, click the link below to access the Chamber’s latest update.

Subject: Our Response to COVID-19
We understand the growing concern surrounding coronavirus (COVID-19) across our communities, and our hearts go out to all those who've been impacted. With COVID-19, the health and safety of our clients, colleagues and families is our utmost concern. Rest assured that Elliott McCrea Hill has taken a number of precautionary measures and has designed a response plan in accordance with the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health of New Brunswick and Health Canada’s guidance to help mitigate the risks from COVID-19.
While our offices remain open and operational, we will continue to keep a close eye on the situation. Should the outbreak pose a heightened threat resulting in a temporary shutdown, we have instituted a remote work policy that will allow us to provide you continued service with the least amount of inconvenience possible.
IMPORTANT NOTE: By memo dated March 15th, 2020, we have been advised by the Province of New Brunswick (PNB) that effective immediately a number of restrictions have been put in place surrounding appearances at all Court levels in New Brunswick including temporary adjournments for certain proceedings – if you have an upcoming matter scheduled before any level of Court in NB, please contact your lawyer at EMH immediately to discuss how these restrictions affect your particular matter.
For the time being, we encourage clients to submit documents, records and other information electronically. Please contact your lawyer or EMH Law staff member for further details. We will be minimizing face to face meetings whenever possible by utilizing technology options and of course the good old fashion telephone or video conferencing.
We ask that you do not visit our offices if you:
are experiencing any of the following symptoms (mild or severe):
fever
cough
difficulty breathing/shortness of breath
have recently travelled to any area with an ongoing spread of COVID-19
live with someone who recently travelled to an area with an ongoing spread of COVID-19
have been in contact with someone known to have COVID-19 or experiencing symptoms similar to the Flu or COVID-19
At EMH Law, everything we do is with a heartfelt commitment to protect the health and safety of our clients and our team. It's our honour and privilege to serve you, particularly during challenging times, and we thank you for being at the heart of what we do. We wish you, your loved ones and your peers, health and peace of mind as we continue to respond to worldwide health efforts to contain the situation.
